Veteran
automotive journalist and author John M. Clor has owned, raced,
worked on or written about cars – especially Fords and Mustangs
– for nearly 30 years. He's been a respected member of the
motoring press since 1989, with his copy appearing in a wide range
of both consumer and industry publications. Additionally, Clor's
marketing and communications work for the likes of Ford, General
Motors, Mazda and a variety of performance automotive suppliers
has enabled him to put cars into their proper context, no matter
what the audience.
A native
Detroiter, Clor had paid his journalism dues with a 15-year editing
career at The Detroit News before joining the staff of AutoWeek
magazine, where he spent more than six years writing road tests
and penning features as Deputy Managing Editor. John then jumped
into the corporate automotive public relations world in 1995,
when he became the communications manager for the Special Vehicle
Team, Ford’s high-profile, high performance vehicle group.
Except for a three-year stint as Detroit Editor for the Edmunds.com
automotive Web site, Clor has spent the better part of the last
decade working on Ford performance niche marketing, product communications
and SVT web site development and content.
John’s
broad-based automotive knowledge and engaging personality have
earned him recurring guest spots on radio and TV, including CBS,
CNN, PBS, The History Channel, Tech TV, ABC Radio News, NPR, Michigan
Public Radio, and many other national and local media outlets.
On the freelance side, Clor founded “Cars in Context,”
an enterprise providing custom automotive writing, editing, research
and consulting to a variety of clients – and he makes no
apologies for his decidedly Detroit perspective on www.CarsInContext.com.
Today,
Clor directs Ford Racing's Ford Performance Group car-club outreach
program, plus creates and manages content for the www.FordPerformance.com
web site as an Account Director for PCGCampbell, a Dearborn-based
marketing and communications agency. An active member of several
car clubs, John pens the popular "Motor City Musings"
column for Mustang Enthusiast magazine, helps operate the SVT
Owners Association while serving as Editor of the club's SVT
Enthusiast magazine, and also writes the "Ford Performance
Corner" column for the Mustang
Club of America's Mustang Times magazine, as well as the new
"Mustang Myths" column for Mustang & Ford Trader
magazine..
Clor's
critically acclaimed book, "The Mustang Dynasty, 45th Anniversary
Collectors Edition" (www.MustangDynasty.com)
is a unique hardcover history that has been dubbed, "The
finest Mustang book … ever…" – and remains
a hot collectible in the Mustang community. John is also the proud
owner of three ’70s-era Mustangs – two of which he
describes as “long-term projects.” |
